5-5-08 - We just
found out Nicole finished 2nd place as the 2008 Loop Rock Girl.
Huge Congrats to her and thanks to those who supported her.
5-5-08 - Be sure
to check out our
Calendar, register and login and post any events that you know of
that are happening in the Midwest!
* There are no cooler charges for this event, but lets hit up the bar Saturday night and throw them some business. Friday Night: 9-12-07 - The Fall Fallout 2007 Flyer is now available for Download; check back for more details on camping fees, we will know by Thursday of next week. We'll also post any other updated info that we may have. We are hoping to do a double up competition if we get at least 10-12 to sign up! It will pay cash for best trick, biggest air and best crash. This event is not going to go by any set schedule, its just going to be a laid back grassroots style event. So come on out and have a good time, hope to see you there! Don't miss the end of summer bash at the Bar on Saturday night. 9-12-07 - For info on accommodations or
directions to Fall Fallout:
9-12-2007 - We are hoping to have the video done from Boot Camp very soon, Ryan from Hyptonic is hopefully about finished up with editing, so check back for that. A lot of people took pictures too, unfortunately I was too busy to take any - and nobody ever got me their pictures to post on the site, so that is why we don't have a photo gallery from Boot Camp. Thanks to everyone that came out to Boot Camp and made it happen. Congrats to Joe Montalto on taking 1st place in our toughest Outlaw Division ever. Also thanks to Laura Lohrman for coming out and ripping it up! Huge thanks to all of our sponsors for everything, especially Chicago Mastercraft for bringing 2 boats, Liquid Sports for setting up their pro shop and hooking us up with some sweet raffle prizes. Also Ultimate Wake for providing a 2007 Supra, and Dockside Marine for Demo-ing their 2007 Correct Craft all weekend. NOTE: Our web host recently did a server upgrade and we lost all of our link bars on the left and right side of the page. Some other things got messed up too, so this is why you haven't seen any updates lately. It should be all fixed now. Our apologies for those who we link to from every page of our site; but it shouldn't be too long until I get a chance to rebuild them all.
8-3-07 - Boot Camp is next weekend! Be sure to download the latest version of the flyer! BOOT CAMP 2007 FLYER (updated 8-3) Look for press releases on Wakeboarder.com and Wakeworld.com
8-3-07 - A couple bits of info about boot camp.... The Busted Prop will have $1.00 Drafts on special Friday night, they will also be serving breakfast Saturday and Sunday morning (biscuits + gravy). Outdoor bar stations and cookout all day Saturday. $25.00 fee from the bar to bring your own cooler w/alcohol on the grounds.
** Top 5 in the OUTLAW division will receive generous Cash Prizes - if you are an outlaw, make your way to boot camp for the tournament on Saturday!
7-23-07 - BOOT CAMP '07 is right around the corner!
6-1-07 - We had a trip to Lake Shelbyville with the Soulriders crew last weekend; what a blast - here are some photos from the trip: Lake Shelbyville - June 2007 Photos
5-25-07 -
Wow! May Demo Days was huge this year to say the
least. This is by far the best kickoff event we have ever thrown
down, if you missed it you missed out! Liquid Sports really
stepped it up this year - pretty much rollin' with a whole pro shop on
the grounds of the Busted Prop, dishing out Ronix and Gator boards and
bindings for people to try left and right!! Let's not forget Jeff with
Slingshot who came all of the way from Oregon with a full line of their
new gear - people we're raving about their stuff; look for more from
Slingshot in the near future. Central Clothing was on hand
hooking people up with their fresh line of clothing and Mark w/ Chicago Mastercraft was pulling people all day behind the PWT X-Star. Neil's
Ultimate Wake Watersports Supra 21V was only out of the water for a few
minutes before the
Militia threw down a huge raffle and followed it up at The Busted Prop
with our Season Kickoff party. Jeff with Dockside also spent all day on the river
showing of their new Nautique. We gave out a Gator Boards
Wakeskate, some of Cire Boardwear's new gear, Central gear, clothes and
accessories from UGP, swag from MidwestWakeboarder.com, Raging Buffalo,
and our new local sponsor SkyDive Chicago tossed in a free tandem
skydive (Congrats to Vet rider Jeff Roman for taking that home).
Special thanks also to Vince with Oneill for throwing in some top of the
line Oneill gear and demo-ing a new Mastercraft CSX (I don't think they
caught any Marlin's but they caught everybody's attention with that
boat). Rumor has it the wake is SICK! Also big thanks to the
Soulriders for all of their help and to Skier's Choice Supra/Moomba;
thanks to them we we're able to give everyone a preview of the special
edition Midwest Militia/Supra/National Wakeboard League T-shirts.
A Huge thanks goes out to everybody who made this event happen, and we
are looking forward to seeing you at Boot Camp - and judging by the
looks of our May Demo Days, Boot Camp is going to be the biggest
grassroots event to hit the Midwest this season. 5-17-07 - Midwest Militia' May Demo Days is this weekend! Pack up your tent and head out to Ottawa for a full weekend of camping, partying, wakeboarding, boat and gear demos and much more! Download Event Flyer
5-17-07 -
We we're featured in Ottawa, IL travel magazine which is produced by the Ottawa Visitor's Center to be distributed and points of interest throughout the state. Props to Team Kankakee's Curt Trizzino for making the cover!! Peggy with the Visitor's center came to boot camp last year to experience the event and take pictures, and Ottawa native's Tim Damron and David Baxter provided her with information about wakeboarding, the Midwest Militia and the wakeboarding scene in Ottawa and throughout the Midwest. Great job and thanks for all of your support Peggy and everyone at the Ottawa Visitor's Center!
4-14-07 - It's that time again! The Militia is bringin' the
heat with our annual May Demo Days May

clothing and accessories from: Mastercraft (2007 PWT X-Star), Supra,
Epic, Nautiques, Ronix, Gator, Slingshot, Central Clothing, Oneill, and
much more. You definitely do not want to miss out on the raffle and
party Saturday night and Liquid Sports will be practically bringing down
a whole pro shop of gear for you to view, demo and purchase. This is THE
wakeboarding season kickoff in the Midwest for 2007, so be there!

12-27-06 - I know its been a
while since you've seen any updates on our site, I apologize for that -
we we're just on a little break between wake and snow season. This
doesn't mean we haven't been behind the scenes already planning our 2007
season which is rapidly approaching! We have some new stuff in mix
this winter and for the 2007 wake season, so check back for updates and
info. Here's a few things that have been happening:

I just want to make sure you mark your calendars for Midwest Militia's Boot Camp 2006! This is the premier wake festival in the Midwest, and the only event of its kind in the area - so you definitely do not want to miss out this year! Weather Cooperates (for once) and May Demo Days is a success!
6-1-06 - The weather finally
cooperated with us and we had a great turnout for the first event of the
year. A ton of riding went down and huge thanks to Mark from
Chicago Mastercraft for pulling people all day behind the '06 X-star.
Also, Neil for offering up pulls all day behind his 2006 Ultimate Wake
Watersports Supra 21v. Ryan from the Kankakee Wakeboarder crew was
providing pulls behind his brand new orange Mastercraft X45, people we're
raving about that boat!. Also thanks to Keith from Raging Buffalo
for offering up rides behind their new X2 and the guys from EPIC put on
a great demo with their boat and some rippers from Minnesota.
Saturday night we had a really nice raffle compliments of OAKLEY,
Central Clothing, CIRE Boardwear, UGP, O'neill, Concussed Threadz,
DOUCARVE.com, Raging Buffalo, Gator Boards and Chicago Mastercraft.
The raffle was followed up by an impromptu "50cc motorcycle demolition
derby" in the parking lot of the Busted Prop, then it was up to the
Busted Prop for a full night of partying at their newly renovated bar.
Huge thanks to the Busted Prop and their new management and all of our
sponsors for helping to make this event such a success. (you will have to install an active X control) MAY DAYS Photo Slideshow If I get anything else as far as video or pics I will be sure to post it up, so check back!

3-14-06 - Featured Article - Nick and Julz Wake School Invaded by Midwest Militia Crew
3-9-06 - Ok, the new layout is done! There are probably some mistakes, but I will eventually get it all lined out. Some changes include a new enhanced layout, random images throughout the site so you have something new to look at when you come to the site or refresh the page. Updated links to get you hooked up with all the right companies and organizations. If you see anything that does not look right or don't work shoot me an email:

All I have to say is if you are ever looking for a great Wake School, definitely check out Nick and Julz Heaney - you won't be disappointed. www.njwakeschool.com. They are two of the best guys in the "business".

2-7-06 - In the spirit of Winter, we teamed up with the Soulrider crew and had some embroidered beanies made up. They are really nice, you can get one for 15$...... more info
2-7-06 - If you wondering why I haven't had too many updates lately, it's because I have been trying to put together a new site layout. I just feel we need a change of scenery. Once I get a little further I will post a preview and then the site will graduate into a "new look".
2-7-06 - Our Orlando trip is only a couple of weeks away, so check back for an article and hopefully lots of pics from the trip.
12-14-05 - HO HO HO - No I am not dissin' yo mama, Merry friggin' Xmas! I know I haven't updated in a while, so sorry about that, everyone needs a break now and again. Its December now and we are in full Snowboarding mode now (except some certain 219ner's that goes into hibernation every winter coughNEILcoughcoughMEL). If you have any info on any snowboarding events in your area, feel free to email me the info, I will be happy to post it up. Normally we have info on here about "Freeze 4 Life" charity event and Winter Waterland on here by now, but neither of these events are happening this year, but that doesn't mean we aren't busy planning next years events; look for the Militia to bring back 3 kickass events again next year, we might even try to throw a couple unique twists in this year, who knows? We should have some dates set in stone before the Chicago boat show, so be sure to stop by Chicago Mastercraft and Ultimate Wake Watersports at Chicago Sea Ray for info on next years events!
Also, check back for some footage and pics of our Nick and Julz Wakeschool trip to Orlando which we gave away to 4 lucky people at Fall Fallout. The trip is scheduled for February!!

10-7-05 - Check it out as Neil gets owned by the water! Footage by Ryan C (Hyptonic Films) Download WMV File
10-5-05 - Fall Fallout Wrap Up... Fall Fallout was this past weekend, and was a great time to say the least! The weather was perfect and the water was calm, so there was some good riding and the partying was off the hook. Huge thanks to those who helped out; Raging Buffalo, Soulriders, The Shred Shop, Chicago Mastercraft, Ultimate Wake, Central Clothing, Grizzly Sports, The Busted Prop, Twistoff Films, Hyptonic Films and the list goes on! To sum it up, the Minnesota Crew starting showing up on Friday afternoon and then more and more people rolled in that night. We pretty much partied until dawn at the bar then woke up Saturday and went out and rode all morning and into the afternoon. The double up contest started @ 2:30, there were about 12 people that competed. Results were as follows, Best Crash was Casey Goss with a 360/Backroll/?*$#$? attempt; Biggest Air went to Mark Baxter with a HUUUGE tantrum and best trick went to Team Kankakee's Curt Trizzuno with a nice big Hoochie. Each contestant winner was awarded 50$ cash and a prize purse compliments of our sponsors. Once we got everything wrapped up and people got their boats outta the water we started our raffle, where we had boards, bindings, gear, certificates and clothing compliments of our sponsors. Then it was time to announce the winners of the Orlando trip to Nick and Julz wake school! We had about 30 contestants that entered by filling out a questionnaire in which they had to write a paragraph on why they should win the trip. It was a hard decision and there were some great entries, but congrats to the following winners; Beth Kalin (Fox River Grove), Dave Clayton (New Lenox), David Baxter (Ottawa) and Jeremiah Johnson (Newark). They get an all expenses paid tip to Nick and Julz wake school in Orlando this winter "chaparoned" by none other than myself (Tim) and Mark. To my surprised nobody turned down the trip when they found out we were going too. Then the bonfire was lit and the partyin' began!! The party started outside and once the wood was all burnt, (and the couch) the kegs were all gone and the burgers were all gone some went to bed and some carried the party on up into the bar until it closed down. Thanks for everyone who made it out and thanks for making all of our '05 events a success!!!!

9-28-05 - Updated Flyer Released - DOWNLOAD FALL FALLOUT FLYER! 9-26-05 - FALL FALLOUT PRESS RELEASE! Is anybody up for getting away from the cold to go to Orland for a weekend this winter? In order to win you must be present at Fallout, and must be 18 years of age or older. Details on the contest and dates of trip will be given out on October 1st at the event. Nick and Julz are two of the nicest guys in the sport, and excellent instructors, this is going to be a great opportunity for a few lucky Midwesterners to meet and ride with them, sharpen your wakeboard skills, and get away from the cold for a while. You can check out their website at www.njwakeschool.com. Hope to see you at Fallout this weekend!

9-3-05 - Fall Fallout Flyer is now available for Download - Check back for more info and updates.
8-15-05 - Boot Camp goes on despite rainiest weekend of the year..... Well, this summer has been said to be the worst drought since 1988, and Mother Nature couldn't have picked a worse weekend for the Midwest to come out of it! But, despite rain and storms Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday, we still managed to have a decent turnout for Boot Camp this year. The die-hards started showing Thursday from Minnesota and Michigan ready to camp and ride all weekend and not let a little (LOT) of rain hold them back! One good thing was the conditions kept pretty much every other boater off of the river, so it was pretty much ours. The tournament went smooth and as planned with the exception of a 1 hour delay, all of our drivers and judges were pretty much soaked an hour into it, but it the rain did manage to let up some in the afternoon and the water conditions were good all day with little wind. There was a lot of good competition and all of the scores for the top three were really close, they will be posted soon. A Huge thanks to all of our sponsors, we really had a great raffle this year, we gave away boards, surfers, bindings, board racks, gear and a ton of clothes, then followed it up with the band "Verbal Warning" who couldn't have sounded better. Thanks to Concussed Threadz and Central Clothing for sticking it out as well and setting up booths for the weekend. Also huge thanks to the Soulriders crew for all of their help with everything.
Fall Fallout is our next event coming up September 30th-October 2nd - look for a little twist for this event! More details coming soon! We've had bad weather for 2 of our events this year, so let's keep our fingers crossed and hope for great conditions for the Fall Fallout Double up Competition and party.

The riding conditions were pretty much brutal the whole weekend, so it was not a great day to demo boards and boats - but the partying afterwards made up for it! We had high winds from the west that just tore up the Illinois river, which made us have to postpone the double up comp and eventually cancel it because it just got worse. We had a pretty good raffle with items from CIRE, UGP, Oakley, Wakeworld, Cobian and some Midwest Militia stuff. I should have a link to some pics and video up soon.

2-14-05 - Two New Rider Profiles added today. Oh Yeah and Happy Valentine's day.
1-27-05 - Everything has kind of slowed down now for a while, it has been a busy off-season for us, we had Freeze for Life, Winter Waterland, the infamous Ken and Heidi Soulrider wedding reception (congrats and thanks by the way) the boat show w/after party, all of which we somehow participated in. We are looking forward to next season and we hope to see everyone at our events.
I don't really have much new news to post, so if there is anything going on email me with the details.... parties, events, snowboarding events, stories.... whatever you would like to see on our site.
1-27-05 - The boat show was last weekend and it was great as usual, there was a party afterwards at the Wabash Tap in Chicago where Eric Ruck's brother's band "Braided Funk" played all night. From what I remember it was a pretty good time. Eric Ruck was there handing out some stuff as well as Laura Lohrman, Danny Harf and Melissa Marquedt (I think, I didnt actually see her though). Midwest Militia donated T-shirts can coolies and a bunch of stickers that were given away throughout the night.

12-7-04 - Local Mike Van Patton is a finalist in a WBM (Wakeboarding Magazine) video contest. Represent the Midwest and the FRG crew from the Fox River in Northern Illinois and cast your vote by clicking the link! http://www.wakeboardingmag.com/vas_video_voting.jsp
12-2-04 - The Midwest Militia Merchandise Page is updated. We have hoodies, beanies, girls shirts, T-Shirts and stickers for sale. You can pay with Paypal or Major Credit Card, or email to arrange to pay by check.
11-20-04 - Updates on Freeze For Life - Just got an email last night, download the flyer for all of the info. This is for a great cause, all proceeds go to the American Cancer Society, last year I believe they raised over $5,000. Even if you do not ride it is a great time to hang out with people, make a donation for Cancer and visit a great Pro Shop and watch everyone freeze their A** off!
11-18-04 - Ok, sorry I haven't updated in a while - been catching up on all of the stuff we slacked off on all summer. We are already working on dates for 3 events next year with the possibility of some new locations for our 2 smaller events to mix things up a bit. Snowboarding season is coming up and look for Midwest Militia to become more involved in the Snowboarding scene as well. Demo day is still in full effect for Saturday May 1st. The weather is looking up with a high of 58 and a slight wind from the north, scattered showers in the Morning diminishing towards the afternoon, which will make for some sweet riding conditions! The river is usually calm when the weather is overcast If you are thinking about not coming because of the rain, you will be missing out on great water conditions. We rode 2 weeks ago and the water was in the mid 60's. It should even be warmer than that now The Busted Prop (indoor) lounge will be open all day serving all of your favorite drinks. So don't miss out on the best boats, gear and boards just because of a little rain! Hope to see you there!
