The Midwest Militia was formed by a small group of friends who had a common love for the sport of wakeboarding.  We wanted to be involved in the sport both on and off of the water, but we weren’t sure what direction that we wanted to take.   Over the course of the 2001 season, it was decided that we would form a wakeboarding organization.    

There are several reasons that we decided to form a wakeboarding organization.  Wakeboarding hasn’t grown as quickly here in the Midwest as it has on the East and West coasts.  We would like to change that.  We want to get as many people involved in wakeboarding as possible.  We also wanted to bring together the riders that are already here.  There is a wakeboarding “scene” here in the Midwest, and we want everyone to know it.  There is a lot of talent here in the Midwest and there are quite of few pros that have come from here.  Eric Ruck, Rob Struharik, and Gerry Nunn are all from the Midwest.
