The
Midwest Militia was formed by a small group of friends who had a common
love for the sport of wakeboarding. We
wanted to be involved in the sport both on and off of the water, but we
weren’t sure what direction that we wanted to take.
Over the course of the 2001 season, it was decided that we would
form a wakeboarding organization. There are several reasons that we decided to form a wakeboarding organization. Wakeboarding hasn’t grown as quickly here in the Midwest as it has on the East and West coasts. We would like to change that. We want to get as many peopl e involved in wakeboarding as possible. We also wanted to bring together the riders that are already here. There is a wakeboarding “scene” here in the Midwest, and we want everyone to know it. There is a lot of talent here in the Midwest and there are quite of few pros that have come from here. Eric Ruck, Rob Struharik, and Gerry Nunn are all from the Midwest. All right, so now we had an organization of sorts, but what do we call ourselves? At first, we had no idea of what we wanted to call ourselves. There were a lot of suggestions, but nothing that really stuck. Then, one day out on the water, someone mentioned that we should call ourselves the Midwest Militia. We all kind of laughed at first, but it stuck. From that point on, we were the Midwest Militia. So, here we are the Midwest Militia. 6 Years later we are continuously growing, and learning, so bear with us. Now that we have turned our idea into something, we are starting to recruit new members, and plan more and more events as well as becoming involved with other events in the area. Check back regularly because new history is being written everyday. |
